A system developed out of connections and limitations adapts to external stimuli and programmatic influence. The system is used as a tool to drape a new multi-building welcome center facility along the river’s edge in Providence, RI. Ghosting the old highway corridor, the building system reacts and undulates to the topography of the site, to address varied programmatic needs and to bend down and meet the river. Sectional analysis guides design decisions, helping delineate interior space from open exterior and defining planting, overhang, river walk and pier.
